This is a new project- if you can describe a script begun in 1992- just weeks after the demise in the West End of "The Snark"- new. It is a serious piece, written to appear like a play with music, although it is quite definitely a musical.
The theatre Royal, Plymouth have planned for some years to co-produce the show and this is still the intention. When Mike has enough time seriously to dedicate to organising its production, it will be produced.
The story, by Mike, is that of Katherine, a well-to-do English Rose, who in 1913 defies her parents to enter the Music Hall as a singer, and two men in her life,- George, an army officer- (of her social station) - and Billy, a comedian- (not her equal in the social pecking order). The story begins at the outbreak of World War One and ends at the conclusion of the Spanish Civil War. The baby borne to Katherine during the Great War is by now an idealistic young man who goes off to fight for the republicans in the Spanish Civil War. His father goes off to try to rescue him from the boody and hopeless conflict, but who IS his father - George or Billy?
